What is inclusive gymnastics?

Play-based and child-centered activities are the most motivating and effective tools for increasing children’s engagement and participation. The equipment available within a gymnastics facility and the sensory-motor components of the sport create an unparalleled environment for helping children to improve their deficits, gain confidence, progress developmentally and advance their day-to-day functioning.

Does my child need therapy?

Occupational therapy can help children with motor coordination, self-help development, and sensory processing. There are some common signs that your child may benefit from occupational therapy.

  • Limited reaction to stimuli such as touch, movement, sights and sounds
  • Overreaction to stimuli such as touch, movement, sights and sounds
  • Challenges with transitions
  • Slow language processing
  • Difficulty following directions

What are the potential benefits?

Pediatric occupational therapy helps children build the skills needed for independence. The scope of activities a therapist may work on varies from child to child. Some kids may need help with self-care skills such as eating, dressing and going to the bathroom. Others may have sensory issues or difficulty interacting with other children. Occupational therapy focuses on identifying and remediating these challenges.

Getting started with occupational therapy

Still not sure if your child needs occupational therapy? We offer free screenings that will help identify potential areas of improvement. Depending on how well your child performs to similar-aged kids we may recommend moving forward. Here’s how that process works.

Free screening

Once you call or email us, we’ll ask a few screening questions to ensure that occupational therapy is a good fit for your child. If so, we’ll provide an intake form for you to fill out before the evaluation.

Initial evaluation

We use standardized evaluations to help us set goals and determine what specifically to work with your child on. Our evaluations take place over two sessions.

Treatment session

Based on the results of the evaluation we’ll construct a personalized treatment plan for your child. The typical treatment session is 60 minutes with the last 10 minutes spent consulting with parents.
